emergency post ??? Help Needed ???

Crossing the Floor is temporarily suspended

I have to set our quiz this week and so far out of 80+ questions I have set 6

Any ideas for interesting questions would be gratefully received and in return you would receive the very inconsiderable honour of having your name read out at the Meakins Cricket Club quiz (for our friends over the water, Cricket is Baseball with a degree)

I apologise for the gratuitous use of the word emergency

In case anyone was alarmed, I leave my favourite cat picture.

Baseball with a degree I can see, yet have often worried about what the degree is!

In reading back to some questions you posted last summer, it seems they do not have to be all cricket related.

Therefore and from fairly recent news:

"Which Navy standardized their shipboard cannon so all used the same shot and powder?"

"Under the leadership of?"

(link to proof)

"Where did the expression of 'putting a penny on' originate?"

Adding and subtracting pennies to "Big Ben's" pendulum is the way of regulating it.

(source)

There are the makings of other questions there as well; the weight of her pendulum (300kg); the weight of the clockwork itself (5 tons).

Hope that helps a bit!

I did do a quiz a while ago, probably a bit lowbrow but will try and email it to you

How many states are there in Australia and name them? This is more tricky than you might think and I've seen 6, 7 & 8 given as the answer. Answers on a postcard please.

Which European capital is due south of Edinburgh?

What do you get if you multiply nine by six?

And my favourite
In what year did Queen Elizabeth the 1st become Queen Elizabeth the 1st
